Estate with a Pazo and Chapel, Surrounded by a River, Stone Walls and Woodland in Galicia

120,000 m2

Descripción

A 12-hectare estate (120,000 square metres) with a pazo, surrounded by a river and stone walls, located in a rural area in an open valley surrounded by gently wooded hills.

Part of the estate is used as pastureland, with animals, numerous springs and various outbuildings, including an old washhouse, while another part consists of trees and woodland.

The house incorporates sections from different periods. The main section bears a stone inscription stating that it was rebuilt by a military captain in 1710, with another inscription on the opposite side recording that the works were completed in 1714. This part of the house has a distinctly military character, with highly symmetrical architecture, combined with a more bourgeois style, featuring high ceilings and several rooms and bedrooms (seven in total). In addition to impressive stone staircases on both sides of the house, there is a large balcony overlooking the meadow. The upper floor contains the bedrooms and living rooms, while the lower floor was used for stables and storage.

The interior walls are decorated with period paintings, and the doors and cupboards are made of solid wood.

There is also an older section of the house, where a traditional open fireplace (lareira), a stone oven and other old structures can be seen, including, for example, an alcove.

In total, the house comprises approximately 500 square metres of built area on the main floor.

Several other buildings surround the house. The most distinctive is a chapel, without altarpieces but with an altar and a complete bell tower, as well as a number of paintings that have survived, although they are not currently in very good condition.

There is also an old stone hórreo (traditional Galician granary), which is very well preserved.

The property also includes a more modern hayloft, built in stone and slate, as well as a stone threshing floor where agricultural work was traditionally carried out.

The estate also contains woodland areas, all accessible by paths.

One of the most beautiful and spectacular areas is the section bordering a river with a moderate flow. Water is drawn from the river to irrigate almost the entire estate through a canal. The riverside path passes through exceptionally attractive landscapes, with waterfalls, pools, and more rugged and wild areas.

In addition to all this, there is another nearby house, which also belongs to me. It is more modern and combines contemporary styles with older architectural elements, and it can also be viewed and used.
